COLONEL KEVIN JOHN MCALEESE
Who is Colonel Kevin John McAleese?
Colonel Kevin John McAleese was an incredible human being taken too soon due to a rare brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM). Kevin was a beloved son, brother, mentor and friend. Colonel Kevin J. McAleese was assigned to the Army’s 358th Civil Affairs Brigade out of Norristown, PA. Stationed in the Persian Gulf, he served as Director of the Humanitarian Assistance Center charged with rebuilding post-war Iraq and also served missions in Bosnia and Kosovo. As a reservist, Kevin’s civilian job was as a corporate recruiter, running his own firm, McAleese Associates. In addition, Colonel McAleese volunteered with the Miss America Scholarship Organization and revitalized the Miss Philadelphia Scholarship Organization in 1997, serving as its long-time Executive Director, providing mentoring and over $150,000 in scholarship funds to women under his watch.
In 2010, Kevin was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Still, he worked with the Navy’s Wounded Warrior Project until he no longer could. Kevin died on February 15th, 2013. His mission in life was to spread love and treat others with compassion and dignity. He was the type of man who would give the shirt off of his back to help someone. The impact he left on the world is what inspired the creation of the KJM Memorial Scholarship Foundation and we are so grateful for your support.
Our Mission
Our mission is a mission of continued giving and philanthropy with the understanding that the families we serve could be one of our own. We are a board of volunteers led by the vision of Kevin’s life and legacy of “taking the high road” and “paying it forward.”
We our proud of the service and continued commitment of our donors in keeping the legacy of gifting hope alive in the hearts of our scholars and Glioblastoma families.
Kevin fought for a cure until his death. His living is not in vain.
